  • Vivian Lee (she/her) is an Emmy-winning and multiple Emmy-nominated TV journalist, public speaker, moderator and director/producer in New York.

    She is currently a correspondent for the magazine show Asian American Life of CUNY-TV.

    She garnered her third Emmy nomination this year for producing CUNY-TV’s 2023 special presentation, “The Forgotten War: 70 Years After The Armistice.”

    Prior to joining CUNY-TV, Vivian anchored and reported the news on NY1 between 2008 and 2020, covering stories of national and international importance.

    From the Covid-19 pandemic and social justice protests, to the 2020 general election; from Hurricane Sandy’s devastation of New York City to Pope Francis’ historic election and visit to the US, Vivian has been on the ground reporting, or leading coverage from the anchor desk, for more than 20 years.  She also hosted Spotlight New York, a weekly magazine show on the arts and culture landscape of the five boroughs.

    Vivian’s career in New York began at WNBC in 2002 as a general assignment reporter.

    Prior to that she was CityTV Toronto's parliamentary correspondent and federal affairs reporter in Ottawa, Canada.

    Born and raised in Toronto, Vivian began reporting in her college town while completing her journalism degree at Carleton University, also in Ottawa.

    From there, her stints included ATV-ASN News Halifax, A Channel Calgary where she co-anchored an award-winning evening newscast A Channel News@Night, and City-TV and its then cable-sister station CP24.

    Vivian has received numerous awards recognizing her industry and community contributions, including the New York Women’s Foundation 2021 “Pillars of Courage” award, shared with four of her former NY1 colleagues.  She co-hosts a podcast on women and work with those same friends, called The 5 Of Us.

    She was also awarded an Emmy for her story on Manhattan’s iconic Joe’s Pub in 2020 and KAFSC's Lifetime Engagement Award in 2019. 

    A featured speaker on numerous panels and workshops discussing ageism, gender discrimination and Asian American identity, Vivian is co-chair of the board of directors at Korean American Story, a non-profit dedicated to capturing and preserving true stories of Korean Americans. She lives in New York with her husband and two daughters.
